when you realize that they play Heroes live by browsing Les Inrocks, I believe this becomes an almost impossible task unless you drop your internet connection on the day the album gets released.
So here are my hot feelings after last night – don’t blame me for my memory mistakes
- The setlist is great and better than the last 2 ones!
- I was a bit disappointed by the audience that I found quiet and static. Maybe that I’m too much excited myself – but as long as surrounding people don’t ask me to stop singing and dancing I don’t care I was located in almost the highest seats of the first ring and expect another feeling in the small standing area of the Lille venue in a couple of weeks!
- “Revolution” as an intro is fun and unexpected but sets the mood
- GB is a great intro but misses some power – I was more excited in my car a few days ago when playing this song than yesterday night – probably again because I was quite far and surrounded by calm people
- SML – ok, not one of my fave in the record bu there it works
- Great red & blue light-mosphere with the birthday toys! Congrats and thank you very much to the devotees who’ve prepared this!
- Album intro for APTIUT followed by the last tour version. But wait… no it’s a mix of both versions! Wow, great, this makes the song more powerful and appealing than during the last tour!
- Corrupt is nice but unfortunately does not help to raise the global mood
- In Your Room is surprisingly one of my best of the night! I like it very much but I was impressed last times (just like in Bercy last tour in place of SBH) while here it’s magnified by Martin’s vocals and the sensuality of the projection. I nevertheless miss the ending vocals as in the 93 tour as the song ends too soon… maybe the crowd will start singing more later in the tour
- I was disappointed by WIME. After the magnificent music and video of IYR we’re down with the classic version of the song just with a cold lighting. Yeah the new intro is cool, but it’s not enough for me. I understand than by being closer to the stage you’d get more in it, but then I don’t want to attend the coming stadiums that far!
- Cover me is great and I like Dave’s dancing during the second part of the song. I suspected it would close the first half of the show and thought that it would be a nice opportunity for Dave to leave the stage “à la popom popom” but not at all, he enjoyed it!
- Classic Martin set but was hoping to get Fail here. Shame he failed.
- PH is the disappointment of the show. Would have worked straight with a more powerful version but still I’m eager to hear again with clean mind
- WTR is as we know it, no surprise except the nice visuals, and it makes the job!
- And now the really 1st Wow of the night! Right!!! Using the SOTU outro to start this song is the best gift for me – reminds me so much my phone ring

Wrong deserves so much this place in the set rather than the one from TOTU, which didn’t fit at all. Great great song!
- Directly followed by the 2nd Wow! I’ve needed 30 secs to recognize EC! They reworked it so well it sounds so modern!
- When Stripped starts here you just turn to your friend and… nothing.
- ETS and NLMDA are super classics – you just enjoy and clap your friends’ hands!
- Somebody… again but I like it so much! I assume this one will remain given the visuals so changes for Martin will be in his first solo’s. I missed seeing him singing on the screens during his solo’s!
- WIMS… aaah I’m happy with new intro again, I like that!
- Heroes is a bit strange. I love the original one and I have mixed feelings about this one. Yes, it’s a proper good cover but I feel like it really gets high a bit late in the song. And I would have loved a bit more DM sound in it. Also deserves a proper second listening.
- IFY (what, again!) and PJ close the show as you can suspect when you see from your watch that time is running out…
- Specifically on the visuals, I found they were a bit unbalanced: from a David Lynch touch during IYR (no, it’s not a dwarf coming from behind the chair :afro:), the sensuality of some videos, to the unfortunate karaoke-like look and feel from one or two videos, and I don’t necessarily like the pets (again pets!). And I would like to see a bit more of them live on the big screen. But again they deserve a second watch during the next gig being closer to the stage.
- And yeaaah, Dave is 55, he’s no longer always running from here to there and I found him even a bit more static than in the last tour. Dave, we still want to see you next time!
So in short while I had a very good night, I think the show has a few weaknesses… that I’m sure will disappear when the Revolution will start again!
